   the impact of using wordup mobile app on iranian intermediate efl learners’ vocabulary learning

چکیده    Vocabulary is one of the most vital skills in language teaching and learning. today, the contribution of technology in general and mobile application in particular made a dramatic revolution in learning and teaching of vocabulary. the present study was an attempt to investigate the impact of using wordup mobile app on iranian intermediate efl learners’ vocabulary learning. to do this, 60 efl learners were selected among 83 learners through an oxford placement test (opt). then, the participants were randomly divided into two groups of study namely experimental and control. in each group there were 30 participants. thereafter, a researcher-made multiple-choice vocabulary pretest was administered to all participants to ascertain their homogeneity before the actual of the study. in control group, the participants gained new vocabularies by conventional methods and the experimental group had wordup application through 8 sessions. after analyzing the data by spss version 21, the results showed that the experimental group had significant improvement in post-test than the control group. as a result, the study showed that the use of wordup application had significant effect on learners vocabulary learning. the implications of the study are for teachers to use technology in general and wordup app in particular as a requirement of language teaching and especially for vocabulary learning.
