|
Teachers are crucial elements of the educational system and their professional development is of great importance. moreover, grit has recently come to the attention of applied linguists since it is believed that gritty teachers sustain their perseverance and passion for the job despite traumatic events. the aim of the present study was to investigate whether iranian efl teachers’ level of l2 grit is a predictor of their professional development. in other words, the goal of this study was to find out whether teachers’ l2 grit is related to the efl teachers’ professional development. using available sampling, the researcher asked 60 efl teachers to participate in this study. two questionnaires were used to gather the required data. the first one was the teacher l2 grit scale, developed by sudina, vernon, et al. (2021), which was used to assess the level of teachers’ l2 grit. the other instrument was the professional development perception questionnaire (pdpq) (soodmandafshar & ghasemi, 2018), which was used to assess the efl teachers’ perceptions of professional development. the results indicated that there is a significant relationship between efl teachers l2 grit and their professional development. the results also showed that the level of iranian efl teachers l2 grit was a predictor of their professional development.
