چکیده    To investigate the effects of translation strategies instruction on students’ critical thinking ability, 100 juniors of english translation major at islamic azad university- tonekabon branch were presented. after running the proficiency test of translation, 50 students that got lower scores were chosen as a homogenous group for this study. one questionnaire of critical thinking and one test for measuring their translation skill were administered to them before and after treatment. the participants were first given the persian version of critical thinking questionnaire including 30 items. after the administering the questionnaire, a multiple-choice translation exam including 30 items was given to the participants. then they were given 10 section translation strategy instructions. the critical thinking questionnaire and translation test repeated as a posttest to measure the possible effects of treatment. the results showed the significance effect of instruction through using paired and independent sample t-test. analyzing the data through running t-test discovered that translation strategies instruction will improve the students’ critical thinking ability. the findings of the present study can have theoretical and practical implications for improving learners ability of critical thinking and translation potential.
