Since mobile-assisted language learning (mall) environments are widespread and popular today, the present study was an attempt to examine the effects of mall on iranian efl learners’ motivation, speaking and listening comprehension. in order to accomplish the purpose of the study, 60 participants were selected based on oxford placement test (opt). they are, then, assigned into a control group and an experimental group. after this, a pretest including a listening comprehension test, a speaking test, and a motivation questionnaire was given to the participants. then, the experimental group went through mall using elsa speak app. the control group didn’t receive any treatment. after the treatment, the post-tests were given to the students to investigate the possible effects of mall, elsa speak app in this case on the students’ motivation, listening and speaking. the data were analyzed using independent samples t-tests, the results of which revealed that the participants in the experimental group significantly outperformed those in the control group indicating that mall had a significantly positive effect on the students’ motivation, listening comprehension and speaking skills. the implications hold for language teachers, teacher educators and language teaching institutes all over the world.
