Teachers’ dispositions are the professional decisions which they make related to the interpersonal, intrapersonal and intellectual aspects of the professional environment in which they enact their knowledge and skills (fonseca-chacana, 2018). as an important disposition, creativity is defined as one of the basic features of 21st century educational systems. there is debate over whether this higher order thinking skill is inherent or learned. a less researched topic, which can shed more light on these extremes is teachers’ sources of decisions and judgements related to creative teaching. the present research tries to explore sources of decisions about creativity by a group of efl teachers at different state schools (34 pilot, 194 main study), using a dispositional model. using an exploratory sequential design, including interview and questionnaire (45 items) development phases, it was found that context and interaction in interpersonal dispositional dimension were the most important sources of decisions and judgements by this group of language teachers. these results are more in line with a learned dispositional approach to creative teaching.
