چکیده
|
Trauma and recovery studies in literature analyze the consequences of undergoing violence by characters and how they recover. although khaled hosseini’s a thousand splendid suns has been analyzed through different perspectives, it has not been analyzed through the lens of trauma and recovery. accordingly, this study seeks to provide a judith herman trauma and recovery study of a thousand splendid suns deploying the concepts of “disconnection”, “captivity”, “safety”, “remembrance and mourning” and “reconnection”. this study examines how mariam and laila are depicted as ptsd victims in this novel. in addition, it analyzes how mariam and laila recover and improve. this study argues that mariam and laila’s ptsd roots from the loss, isolation and violence they experience. studying a thousand splendid suns through judith herman’s trauma and recovery demonstrates that mariam and laila recover from their traumatic experience with the help of connections they make with each other and also with others.
