چکیده
|
The concept of investment represents learners' historically and socially constructed commitment to language acquisition. learners invest in a language because it helps them acquire a broader range of symbolic and material resources. the present study investigated iranian high school efl learners' investment in learning english as a foreign language. an attempt was made to find how iranian learners perceive the importance of english language learning in their lives and education and how they invest in learning it. to achieve this goal, 60 iranian female high school students took part in the study. first, the subjects were administered the questionnaire, and they were asked to express their opinions. furthermore, semi-structured interviews were carried out to get a deeper and more comprehensive view of their opinions. then the results were reported using descriptive statistics in frequency and percentage. the study's findings indicated that iranian high school students were familiar with the importance of the english language in their life and education and were eager to invest in learning it. this study might focus on high school learners` investment needs, help the educational settings improve, and impact language education policy in iranian efl contexts.
