چکیده

This study attempted to compare the effectiveness of two types of feedback, explicit correction and clarification request corrective feedback on students' speaking accuracy and drew some conclusions about the extent to which these two feedback methods contribute to the oral performance of the iranian pre-intermediate fl learners. thus, to carry out the study, the researcher selected a sample of 45 female iranian intermediate fl learners from two english language institutes in tehran. the participants were assigned to three groups based on a pretest: two experimental and one control groups. the first experimental group received explicit correction and the second experimental group received clarification request feedback. both groups were exposed to their treatment. the treatment phase was completed in the course of a 14-session semester through which the participants studied units 1, 2, 3, and 4 of the complete ielts band 4-5 (guy brook-heat, & vanessa jake man, 2013). in the control group, some traditional common techniques were used without focusing on specific corrective feedback like the other two experimental groups. the results showed that the experimental groups in which the participants were exposed to two types of corrective feedback outperformed the control group. the inter-group comparison indicated that the difference between the mean scores of the two experimental groups was not statistically significant.
