He effect of using technology in language education has been considerably researched in the last decade. more specifically, the effect of using websites has been predominantly investigated. this study reports on results of collaborative writing tasks using a web technology at undergraduate essay writing classes. the participants included 25 efl undergraduate students studying tefl at imam javad university college. the study used quantitative data from a 20-item questionnaire on student perceptions toward the collaborative writing with eliademy advanced writing (adopted from li, x., chu, s.k.w., w.w., woo, m. (2010). the results of the post tests showed better writing performance among the students in the experimental group who used the website technology rather than the traditional method in their essay writing course. although the difference was not statistically significant, the result of the analyses of students responses to the questionnaires also revealed that the learners in the experimental group were more satisfied with method using website in their writing class as they gained better confidence in l2 writing.
