discourse strategies and cultural filter: assessment of niazi's translation of sing’s novel

In this study, the tqa focusing on the literary dimension has been done by combining the two frameworks of tqa house and da vandijk. by using the analytical-descriptive method, the researcher first analyzed niazi's translation of the english version of the book 'train to pakistan' singh based on the strategies of rhetoric and semantics which are one of the 8 axes of van dijk's model. and then it was proved with the chi-square test that the level of rhetoric is more utilizable in the translated text. so, based on the house model, the profiles of the st and tt were determined, and the comparison of the profiles did not show significant differences. what is revealed from the errors analysis is the five-fold difference between the error of semantic mismatch and the error of grammatical mismatch. which can be justified in this way that the translator with the involvement of rhetorical elements to preserve the function of the tt and aid the reader to understand the text higher. in some cases, by using the cultural filter, the translator reduced st complexity, but due to the strong cultural characteristics in the st, he has achieved more cultural transmission than cultural compensation.
