   a personalized e-learning environment in esl classroom: a review study

چکیده    Personalized learning includes creating customized lesson plans that reflect the interests and needs of each student, and it uses innovation to assist individual learning. personalized learning is actually implied to be collaborative. students with similar interests or learning styles frequently work together on group projects, which helps teach them valuable communication, cooperation and leadership skills. the current paper was based on review study and internet search of articles indexed in the persian and english databases of google scholar, scopus, web of science, sid, science direct, and magiran. with keywords ‘personalized learning’, ‘adaptive learning’, ‘individualized instruction’, ‘e-learning’, ‘online education’ and ‘customized instruction’ searched from 2017 to 2021. based on the defined criteria, finally 29 articles were evaluated. the results indicated that individualized learning is a tool to facilitate learner-centered education. it can be an efficient approach that can increase motivation, engagement and understanding, appropriate feedback, and learning efficiency. personalized learning may be a vital subject of current intrigued in e-learning. in common, personalized-learning models look for to adjust to the pace of learning and the instructional strategies, content and exercises being utilized to fit best each learner’s qualities, shortcomings, and interface. however, while such personalized learning is now possible, it remains as one of the biggest challenges in virtual education or e- learning. personalized learning for everybody looks distinctive according to the requirements and objectives of the person. learners are diverse in terms of their needs, knowledge, interests, behavior, personality, learning style, culture, goals as well as the parameters of their technological literacy. it seems that the personalized learning models gain more attention from teachers, researchers, and e-learning experts to form teams to work on the same objective to create stable, unified, personalized learning systems/models.
