flipping esp classes to enhance reading technical passages

One of the absolute priorities around the globe is instruction in english, however, pedagogicalmethodologies have not always competed with inconstant and growing needs of learners. withthe aim of implementing an innovative method, the current study was an endeavor to scrutinizethe effectiveness of using flipped classroom model on improving reading technical passages inesp classes. furthermore, students' attitudes toward using flipped approach were examined. onthis account, 62 students, studying in the field of psychology, at payame-noor university ofesfahan were chosen based on the results of quick oxford placement test. after taking a pretest, the participants were split into two groups of control and experimental; each comprised of31 learners. participants in the experimental group were instructed using flipped classroomformat, while the control group got conventional university-style instruction. after theintervention period, a posttest, measuring the participants' level of reading ability, wasadministered to both groups. in addition, the participants of the experimental group were given a10-item questionnaire to assess their level of enthusiasm about using flipped classroom model. the one-way manova findings showed that flipping the classroom significantly improvesreading technical passages in esp classes. the results of the questionnaire also revealed thatstudents' attitudes toward flipped classroom model were positive. the findings of this researchmay inspire esp leaners, university instructors and also curriculum designers to make use of thisnovel approach.
