the effect of podcasts on listening comprehension skill in omani children at kindergarten

Recognizing the vital role of listening in the process of language learning has greatly influenced contemporary language teaching practice. one of the efficient tools for teaching listening is podcasting, a novel mobile technology that engages a series of digital audio. it is one of the powerful, emergent technological media that can be used in the field of language learning. the present study seeks to investigate the effect of podcasts on english language learning and strengthening the child's listening skills at the kindergarten level in oman. for this purpose, two groups of experiments and controls have been used. podcasts have been reviewed using audiotapes and multimedia programs to practice children's listening comprehension. a pre-test and a post-test design were used to examine whether listening to the podcast could improve children's listening comprehension of a foreign language (efl). a t-test for repeated measures was used to analyze the data. the results indicate that the experimental group performed better in the final experiment than the control group. these results raise interesting questions regarding the use of podcasts in the field of foreign language learning. in general, learners agreed on the positive role of podcasts and disagreed on their negative role. however, they reported a neutral opinion regarding the role of podcasts in alleviating their concern for assessments, recommending them to others, and reducing their anxiety about the subject and, its trendy effect and enjoyable style.
