Previous studies have shown diverse applications of technologies to facilitate language learning, and positive adoption of flipped instruction over conventional approaches. in the meantime, researchers have also indicated that employing proper educational technologies or learning strategies could further improve students' performance. nevertheless, research in light of software into computer-based flipped learning among learners of different proficiency levels in an efl setting remains scarce. this study aims to investigate the impact of using rouyesh software on improving vocabulary learning among iranian efl students based on filliped learning approach. in order to achive the aim of the study, an experiment was conducted in a efl vocabulary learning activity of three high school using the developed system. the sample comprised (70) male students; an experimental group (n=35) and a control group (n=35), studying an english course at chegunian, dr. shariati and shahid montazery high school, isfahan province. oxford placement test (opt) was conducted among 70 learners in order to select intermediate efl learners. a mixed research method was employed, using multiple sources of data collection, including pre- and post-tests, two questionnaires (“perception of flipped learning experience” and “technology acceptance model”), the teachers' in-class observations, and semi-structured focus-group interviews. the researcher employed independent sample t-test, (anova), to analyze the data obtained. findings indicated a significant difference in the learning achievement and motivation between the two groups, with students using the flipped classroom performing better and finally results showed that using using rouyesh software based on filliped learning approach has a significant effect on the students ' vocabulary learning. further analysis showed a significant difference in the performance of low achievers in the experimental and control groups. from the experimental results, it was found that the software-based flipped learning guiding approach not only benefited the students in terms of improved their vocabulary learning, but also improved their learning motivation, critical thinking tendency, and group self-efficacy. this study also prepares pedagogical implications for software application as an influential instrument in learning a second language. we conclude with a call for more specific types of research into the individual and group learning of the flipped classroom approach.
