چکیده    Natural rubber plays a crucial role in various industries due to its unique properties, but genetic limitations and threats such as disease hinder its production primarily from the rubber tree (hevea brasiliensis). the russian dandelion (taraxacum kok-saghyz) presents a viable alternative, possessing favorable traits for rubber production. this study investigates the effects of potassium nitrate (kno3) treatment on breaking seed dormancy and enhancing germination rates in nine cultivars of russian dandelion. utilizing a controlled germination assay with varying kno3 concentrations (0%, 0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, 2%, and 3%), results indicate that a 2% kno3 concentration significantly improves germination rates compared to untreated seeds and those subjected to lower concentrations. these findings highlight the potential of kno3 to ameliorate seed dormancy challenges in russian dandelion, thereby supporting its cultivation as a sustainable source of natural rubber. future research should further explore optimal treatments and their long-term impacts on growth and rubber yield, ensuring a resilient future for natural rubber resources.
