Abstract    oil is one of the important energy sources for the world economy, and its price fluctuations have major effects on the economy of the countries. in this study, the effect of oil price shocks on inflation in oil exporting members of the mena region (middle east and north africa) for the period of 2010 to 2023 has been investigated using the panel vector auto regressive model (var panel). the results shows that initially in survey countries, the relationship between oil price and inflation was inverse and then turned into a direct relationship and in countries such as kuwait, first, a direct relationship was observed, but at the end of the period, especially with the spread of the covid-19 virus, the relationship has been reversed and weakened. also, in countries under sanctions or involved in war, such as iran and iraq, the effects have been irregular and dependent on the specific political and economic conditions of each country. these results indicate the complexity of the effects of oil price shocks and the need to pay attention to various economic and political factors in the analysis of these effects
