Designing and validating patterns of effective curriculum development in higher education is very important in order to realize the valuable goals of higher education and enhancing the quality of education in universities. the purpose of this study was to identify the factors contributing to the development of a curriculum model to improve the quality of the universities. the research follows a mixed method with an exploratory design-tool development model and the statistical population including university professors and experts in the field of higher education in iran.. in the quantitative section, 25 participants were interviewed and in the quantitative section, with a population of 325, a sample of 180 individuals participated. as for the analysis of data, in the qualitative section, grounded theory along with subsequent coding procedures was used. moreover, in the quantitative section, structural equation modeling (sem) along with first and second order confirmatory factor analysis was used. the results of the research in the qualitative section indicated that the factors influencing the curriculum of iran's educational system comprise 14 components and 107 sub-components. in the quantitative section of the findings, the results showed that educational courses, the use of educational technology, feedback provided by the professors, classroom management and the professors' teaching activities have the most impact on the design of the curriculum model with a factor load of 1.000. also, the fitting indices demonstrate that the designed pattern related to the curriculum of iran's higher education system has a very good fit.
