reliability of urm walls subjected to in-plane shear

Unreinforced masonry is a kind of sustainable construction and has been on the top of worldwide residential building techniques. the shear wall is the main structural element in such constructions, and different methods are proposed to design a shear wall. the reliability level of the designed unreinforced masonry shear walls (urmw) has significant influence on safety and cost of construction. this study is concerned with reliability assessment of urmw. a brief history of studies on reliability of structural masonry is reviewed; the reliability of an unreinforced masonry shear wall, made of clay bricks, based on a full probabilistic analysis, according to ec6 is assessed.in this regard, a limit state including uncertainty for both resistance and action part is established, and reliability indexes applying crude monte carlo method is evaluated. the result of reliability analysis, based on the available probabilistic information on material with uncertainty models for designed urmw has discussed in the article.
