In this paper, a one-dimensional photonic crystal-based structure on a silicon dioxide substrate is proposed as a filter, and if this substrate is replaced with a gold mirror, the proposed structure will act as a narrow-band perfect absorber. both structures are simulated using the 3d finite difference time domain numerical method for perpendicular incidence of a plane wave within a 0.6-2.6 µm wavelength range. simulation results show that for the filter structure, the transmission spectrum in the range of 0.7 to 1 µm is less than 10%, which means that the proposed filter can well suppress the radiant light in this range. also for the absorber structure, a resonance peak appears in the absorption spectrum of the device, whose amplitude and full width at half maximum (fwhm) are 0.99 and 11.54 nm, respectively.
