اکوتوریسم (طبیعت گردی) نوعی از توسعه پایدار محسوب می گردد و توسعه پایدار از اصول و مبانی پیشرفت در زمینه های مختلف اقتصادی، اجتماعی، فرهنگی ، سیاسی و.... در نظام های حاکم بر کشورها به شمار می رود. امروزه امنیت به عنوان رکن مهم و اساسی در تدوین استراتژی توسعه توریسم در جهان محسوب می گردد. اصولاً توسعه و امنیت مکمل یکدیگربوده به گونه ای که امنیت امری لازم برای توسعه پایدار و توسعه پایدار تضمین کننده امنیت ملی است. برقراری امنیت فراگیر مهمترین گام در بهبود صنعت توریسم است و هر گونه بروز ناامنی و به کار گیری خشونت در سطوح مختلف زیان های جبران نا پذیری به این صنعت وارد می سازد. استان گلستان از نظر وجود جاذبه های طبیعی ، طبیعت بکر و متنوع بودن زون های توریستی از کانون های بسیار مهم در جذب گردشگران ، مخصوصاً طبیعت دوستان(اکوتوریست) محسوب می شود که هر ساله میلیون ها گردشگر را از سراسر کشور به خود جذب می نماید. لذا توجه به توریسم پایدار از اهمیت فراوان و در خور توجه برخوردار خواهد بود. شکی نیست که موفقیت و پایداری در توسعه صنعت اکوتوریسم در استان منوط به عملکرد مناسب و هماهنگی فاکتورها و عوامل متعددی است که با هم ارتباط هماهنگ و تنگاتنگی دارند.یکی از موثرترین فاکتورها در توسعه پایدار اکوتوریسم در مناطق طبیعی موضوع امنیت گردشگران است. در این مقاله سعی شده است ضمن بررسی اهمیت گردشگری و نقش امنیت در توسعه اکوتوریسم ، به بررسی موانع اصلی توسعه اکوتوریسم در استان پرداخته ودر خاتمه راهکارهای لازم در زمینه ارتقاء آن ارائه گردد.
