design of nanobots: a new horizon for cancer treatment

Aim and background: cancer is one of the major diseases of 21th century. tedious and painful radiation therapy and chemotherapy are administered using many drugs which cause a lot of side effects. this review aims at giving an overview of the present status of nanorobotics in cancer therapy.methods: to investigate this approach pubmed, google scholar references and list of studies have been included. results and discussion: nanorobots are controllable machines at the nanometer or molecular scale that consist of nanoscale materials. with the modern scientific capabilities, the creation of nanorobotic devices has emerged to encounter with the macro world for control. also, nanomachines, nanorobots, and nanodevices can be applied in the construction of a wide range of atomically accurate microscopic instruments and manufacturing equipment, as well as a large number of ultra-small devices, other nanoscale and microscale robotic structures.nanorobotics as complicated submicron devices making of nanocomponents are promising candidates for future health care, especially medication delivery technology for cancer which is the top cause of mortality among those under the age of 85 years. nanorobots might transport and distribute large volumes of anticancer medications into diseased cells without damaging normal cells, which leads to decreasing the adverse effects in comparison to current therapies such as chemotherapy. the ultimate development of this innovation, which will be accomplished through a close cooperation among scientists in robotics, medicine, and nanotechnology, will have a significant influence on disease diagnosis and cancer therapy. this report has studied the cancer therapy utilizing nanorobots, which offers worldwide advanced research in the not-too-distant future.
