Aim and background: algae are common in aquatic systems and are sensitive to nanomaterials, so they are commonly used to assess the risks of nanomaterials in water. microcystin-lr is one of the most common types of microcystin mcs, which nanomaterials or environmental factors alone affect the production and release of mclr. therefore, the examination of cyanobacteria, of which microcystis is a species, along with nanoparticles can help us to detect pollution. methods: the information for this review article was collected from google scholar and web of science sitesresults and discussion: the toxicological mechanism of mc mainly involves strong inhibition of protein phosphatases, leading to serious and sometimes fatal liver damage. since this hepatotoxin is very persistent and difficult to degrade, the spread of mc through the food chain makes it a danger to humans. with the rapid development of nanotechnology, magnetic nanoparticles are now widely studied in the field of water treatment. nanoparticles can reduce the toxicity caused by this cyanobacterium and prevent the occurrence of various diseases.conclusion: since m. aeruginosa has high toxicity, which is harmful to both aquatic animals and humans, it is necessary to eliminate it. it is recommended to use nanoparticles such as tio2, fe3o4, and agnps to eliminate these toxins to reduce damage to marine organisms and humans.
