Aim and background: this study aimed to investigate the antibacterial activity of silver nanoparticles (nps) stored in pore-arrays (pa) su-8 photoresist layer against e. coli bacteria. the effect of drying temperature on the immobilization of ag nps on the surface of the pa-su-8 matrix and its subsequent impact on the antibacterial activity of the ag nps/pa-su-8 film was evaluated. methods: the pa-su-8 matrix was fabricated using an optical interference lithography method. the ag nps were deposited on the soft polymeric matrix at different drying temperatures, and their concentration and size were analyzed. the antibacterial activity of the ag nps/pa-su-8 films was evaluated at different temperatures. results and discussion: the concentration of immobilized ag nps on the surface of the pa-su-8 matrix increased by a factor of 2.5 at the higher drying temperature. the size of the ag nps released from the ag nps/pa-su-8 film was found to be in the range of 7-15 nm. the antibacterial activity of the ag nps/pa-su-8 films was temperature-dependent, with a higher rate of reduction of viable bacteria observed at higher temperatures. the higher drying temperature provided more diffusion of ag nps in the porous soft matrix, resulting in a lasting antibacterial activity. conclusion: the ag nps/pa-su-8 films have significant antibacterial activity against e. coli bacteria, and the immobilization of ag nps on the surface of the pa-su-8 matrix can be optimized by adjusting the drying temperature during the fabrication process. the temperature-dependent antibacterial activity of the ag nps/pa-su-8 films highlights the potential of this nanocomposite for various biomedical applications.
