چکیده    Aim and background: biosensors have been a fascinating topic in recent decades in the field of biology, medicine, and nanotechnology for measuring a broad range of molecules at low concentrations with high specificity. glucose biosensors are the most successful and well-known sensors, that have been continuously developed and improved over the past few years. biosensors can accurately and quickly identify and measure cancerous biomarkers, biomolecules, pathogenic markers, pathogenic microbes, and other biological factors. part of the progress of these tools, in addition to increasing sensitivity and speed, is reducing the size of the sensor or required tools, therefore laboratories have been introduced on the chips.methods: in this article, we are going to discuss the advantages and challenges of lab-on-chip by searching the google scholar database for publications.results and discussion: lab on a chip is a device based on microfluidic technology that miniaturizes laboratory processes and procedures on a single chip and measures several parameters or samples at the same time. the advantages of locs include ease of use, reduced human and laboratory errors, reduced sample volume, control of the processes in real-time, and reduced energy consumption. they can be used in disease diagnosis, dna analysis and rapid pcr tests, synthesis of chemical compounds, patient monitoring, proteomics, cell biology, pharmaceutical formulation, etc.locs can be more precise devices with the help of nanotechnology and using the unique properties of nanoparticles. improving the signal-to-noise ratio, improving chip platforms, for example, using paper instead of pdms and silicon, and improving manufacturing and industrialization methods are among the features that can be achieved with the help of nanotechnology.conclusion: locs are powerful tools that can be used in disease diagnosis and personalized medicine to create a revolution in various fields of medicine.
