Aim and background: transdermal administration of narcotics can provide analgesia without serious side effects if it can penetrate the stratum corneum. microneedle is a means of delivering medicine with minimal invasiveness. we decided to fabricate dissolving sufentanil microneedles (spdmns) in the current study, because to date no microneedle preparation of it has been made in the pharmaceutical market. methods: the fabrication process, mechanical properties, and animal studies were examined.results and discussion: spdmns had acceptable properties and could easily pass the tests. conclusion: our spdmns could easily pass characterization tests and can be used as a good drug delivery method for pain management with no dependence.
