چکیده    Buildings with masonry materials are buildings that are built with bricks, cement blocks, or stones, and in them, all or part of the vertical loads are supported by the walls with masonry materials. therefore, a building in which part of the vertical load is supported by walls with masonry materials and another part by metal or reinforced concrete elements is considered as a building with masonry materials. the results of the studies show that masonry buildings are vulnerable to earthquakes due to weak materials, low plasticity and lack of cohesion and integration between its constituent elements. however, the results of the investigation of recent earthquakes show that in the construction of masonry buildings, if the regulatory standards are followed, the behavior of these buildings will be improved and the amount of life and financial losses will be reduced. in this research, which was carried out in a descriptive and analytical method and based on a review of reliable sources, the most important methods of improvement and strengthening of masonry structures are introduced and reviewed.
