اهواز کهن؛ نگاهی به تاریخ پنهان یک شهر

اهواز به عنوان یکی از کلانشهرهای امروز کشورمان، عمدتا به واسطه نفت و نقشی که در صنایع معاصر، چون فولاد، کشت و صنعت و ... ایفا می‌کند شناخته شده است؛ حال آنکه این شهر به واسطه گذشته باستانی و پر فراز و نشیب آن نیز شایسته توجهی بیش از آنی است که امروزه بدان مبذول می‌گردد. شهر باستانی هرمز اردشیر که از نوشهرهای مشهور ساسانیان بوده بر ویرانه‌های اهواز پارتی و پیش از آن بنا شده و شادروان مشهور اهواز –که گویی مشهورتر و بزرگتر از شادروان شوشتر بوده- در این شهر بنا گشته است. در دوران پس از اسلام نیز اهواز تا چندین قرن یکی از آبادترین و مشهورترین شهرهای اسلامی بوده؛ با این وصف تا به امروز بررسی دقیق و جامعی پیرامون گذشته تاریخی این شهر صورت نگرفته و سوالات فراوانی چون حدود شهر قدیم، ویژگیهای اساسی آن، مکان سد قدیم و... در هاله‌ای از ابهام باقی مانده است. مقاله حاضر سعی در روشن کردن وجوه تاریخی و باستانی شهری دارد که امروزه بیشتر آن را شهری صنعتی و غیر تاریخی می‌شناسند.
