multi-period inverse data envelopment analysis with negative measures: double frontiers

In certain assessments, it is important to consider the changes in performance metrics and efficiency over a period of time while negative metrics are perceived. however, in the data envelopment analysis (dea) literature, there is a scarcity of investigations for this purpose. accordingly, this study analyzes the performance of processes with negative measures over multiple time periods under double frontiers. in fact, inverse dea techniques are introduced from two perspectives, optimistic and pessimistic ones, to assess the performance measures while negative metrics are presented. in the models proposed in this study, the efficiency of decision making units (dmus) is maintained after perturbation. an application of the banking industry is provided to illustrate the proposed models. the results show that the proposed technique can be applied to estimate positive and negative outputs for the changes of inputs and the maintenance of optimistic and pessimistic performance levels.
