این جستار کوشیده است وجوه اشتراک و افتراق در تصویرسازی‌های اشعار فروغ فرخزاد و هوشنگ ابتهاج، با استفاده از وا‍ژه های نمادین را به روش توصیفی- تحلیلی، بررسی کند. این شاعران در برهه ای از زندگی ادبی خود، واژگانی نظیر شب گور (نماد تنهایی)، سپیده‌دم (نماد رهایی از غم) و امثالهم را برای بیان درونمایه‌های شخصی به کاربرده‌اند و با تغییر دیدگاه در زندگی شخصی و هنری، واژگانی نظیر خیابان وحشت زده (نماد ظلم)، سحرگاه خونین (نماد اعدام دادخواهان) و امثالهم را برای اعتراض نسب به سیاست‌های پهلوی استفاده کرده‌اند. تفاوت‌های این دو شاعر در بیان چگونگی بعضی از درونمایه‌‌ها شعری است. دیگر وا‍ژه های نمادین به همین روال در زمینه‌های مختلف به کار می‌روند.

this essay has tried to investigate the commonalities and differences in the depictions of forough farrokhzad and houshang ebtahaj s poems by using symbolic words in a descriptive-analytical way. at some point in their literary life, these poets have used words such as shab-gor (a symbol of loneliness), dawn (a symbol of freedom from sadness) and the like to express personal themes, and with a change of perspective in their personal and artistic life, words such as the street of terror they have used zadeh (a symbol of oppression), sahargah khounin (a symbol of the execution of litigants) and others like them to protest the pahlavi policies. the differences between these two poets are in expressing how some themes are poetic. other symbolic words are used in the same way in different fields.
