چکیده
|
Feline viral diseases pose significant health challenges in both domestic and wild cat populations, often resulting in high morbidity and mortality. traditional management strategies have focused on supportive care and vaccination, but new-generation antivirals present promising avenues for more effective treatment. this review explores recent advancements in antiviral therapies for feline viral infections, including feline herpesvirus (fhv-1), feline calicivirus (fcv), feline leukemia virus (felv), and feline immunodeficiency virus (fiv). highlighted are novel agents such as famciclovir and polyprenyl immunostimulant for fhv-1, protease inhibitors and rna interference technologies for fcv, integrase inhibitors and antiretroviral therapies for felv, and reverse transcriptase inhibitors and gene editing technologies for fiv. the mechanisms of action, including enzyme inhibition, immune modulation, and gene silencing, are discussed, along with challenges in drug development such as species-specific differences, toxicity, cost, and potential for drug resistance. clinical implications of these new therapies are examined through recent case studies and clinical trials, demonstrating improved treatment outcomes and quality of life for affected cats. ethical considerations and regulatory approval processes are also addressed. this review underscores the importance of continued innovation and research to overcome existing challenges and maximize the therapeutic potential of new-generation antivirals in veterinary medicine. effective integration of these therapies into standard veterinary care protocols has the potential to significantly enhance feline health globally.
