molecular identification of gill monogenes of ornamental fish referred from all over the country to shahid chamran veterinary hospital of ahvaz (report series)

Currently, monogeniasis is one of the most common diseases of ornamental fish in the world and also in iran. severe infection with these parasites causes hyperplasia of the epithelium of the gill threads, breathing disorder, negative impact on growth and high mortality, especially in small fish. the number of 400 pieces from 50 ornamental fish breeding farms, including goldfish, carp, caleroido, fighter and discus species in the period from 02/27/1402 to 10/11/1402 from the cities of khorramshahr, kashan, isfahan, shiraz, karaj, tabriz, zanjan, mashhad, rasht, tehran, ahvaz, shush, bushehr and shushtar were referred to ahvaz shahid chamran veterinary hospital for periodical examinations or during the occurrence of disease symptoms and casualties. after conducting examinations, 95 pieces from 15 fish breeding farms were found to be contaminated with gill monogenes. the pcr test was performed on the its1 region. the results of sequencing after referring to the ncbi gene bank determined the genetic similarity of 7 goldfish infected with dactylogyrus minutus with 96% genetic similarity and dactylogyrus vastator with 98% genetic similarity, 2 carp infected with dactylogyrus extensus with 99% genetic similarity. 3 calroido fish infected with pavanelliella takemotoi with 34% genetic similarity, 3 fighter fish infected with dactylogyrus extensus 99% genetic similarity and 2 discus fish infected with dactylogyrus extensus 99% genetic similarity were detected. it is worth mentioning that although these species have been reported in the country by morphological method, this research was conducted as a statistical population from the whole country for the first time in shahid chamran university of ahvaz.
