bovine pathologic findings induced by mycoplasma bovis (m.bovis) bacteria

Mycoplasma bovis is a bacterial cause of bronchopneumonia, mastitis and arthritis in addition, it can affect other main organs in cattle such as the eye, ear or brain. fortunately, that’s not a zoonotic disease, but, m. bovis infections are major problems for substantial economic health. in this review, we briefly considered the histopathologic lesions of m.bovis in 10 industrial dairy herds.(20 cases) this study is conducted from 2018 until now. infected cases were ranged from a week year old calves to adult cows. in summary, lesions and findings such as necrohemorrhagic and lymphoplasmacytic enteritis with mucosal hyperplasia, sparce bacillus-form bacteria were presented in the small intestines. diffuse subacute catarrhal and lymphoplasmacytic enteritis were seen in the large intesines. in addition, chronic bronchiolitis with or without goblet cell metaplasia, severe interstitial fibrosis, proliferation, infiltration of mononuclear cells, type ii pneumonocytes, necrotic granuloma and giant cell formation, chronic active pneumonia, chronic necrotic, proliferative and broncho interstitial pneumonia were indicated in lungs. despite some hearts had normal tissue, some others had multifocal myocardial degeneration and focal mononuclear perivasculitis. it is worth noting that the pcr results were also a confirmation of the histopathology results for the diagnosis of m.bovis. m. bovis has spread worldwide, even to countries for a long time considered free of it. control of m. bovis infections is overwhelming due to the lack of effective vaccines, treatments and increasing in antimicrobial resistance, therefore it’s vital to find more efficient ways against m.bovis.
