چکیده
|
Infectious agents are the primary cause of canine abortion. these agents lead to fetal losses either directly through septicemia or indirectly through placental infection and impaired feto-maternal exchanges. canine brucellosis is considered the most significant agent, with others like campylobacter jejuni, canine herpesvirus (chv-1), bluetongue, etc. also implicated. however, the role of the canine herpesvirus in dog abortion is controversial and likely infrequent. chv-1 infections can cause fetal resorption in pregnant dogs, showing different signs based on the pregnancy stage. intranuclear inclusion bodies in tissues’ cells are a key diagnostic feature. proper diagnosis, prevention, and immunization are crucial to reducing the impact of chv-1 on canine health. research on chv-1 causing abortion in dogs has been conducted globally, excluding iran. the 50-day-old poodle aborted fetus and placenta were examined for determining the cause of abortion. macroscopic evaluation and tissue sampling were performed. no organisms were detected in cultures of organs, fluids, or contact smears. histopathological examination revealed multifocal necrosis with intranuclear inclusion bodies in the trophoblast epithelium. renal, hepatic, and pulmonary organs exhibited diffuse multifocal necrosis, hyperemia, and hemorrhage. the positive result of chv-1 and the negative for brucella canis through pcr confirmed chv-1 as a main causative organ. although research has been conducted on the role of an incompletely developed immune system correlated with chv-1 infection, more attention is needed on other issues such as the effectiveness of modified live virus (mlv) vaccines, especially during late-term pregnancy.
