چکیده    Prostaglandins, which are metabolites of arachidonic acid, play crucial roles in regulating physiological and pathological processes in the human body. one of the key areas where prostaglandins are involved is the immune system. this article reviews the effects of prostaglandins on immune factors and the mechanisms underlying these effects, as well as recent research findings in this field. prostaglandins are bioactive compounds involved in many physiological and pathological processes. these molecules play a significant role in regulating the immune system by affecting inflammatory and immune responses. the impact of prostaglandins on immune factors, especially in inflammatory and autoimmune conditions, has garnered considerable attention. prostaglandins exerted diverse effects on immune cell functions through interactions with specific receptors. one important prostaglandin, prostaglandin e2 (pge2), is known for its role in regulating inflammatory and immune responses. pge2 can alter the activity of immune cells, including macrophages and lymphocytes, and help modulate the production of cytokines and other inflammatory molecules. effects on immune cell activity macrophages: prostaglandins can modify the phagocytic activities of macrophages and regulate the production of inflammatory cytokines. for instance, pge2 aids in regulating the production of tnf-α and il-6. lymphocytes: prostaglandins, particularly pge2, can influence the activity of t and b lymphocytes, assisting in the modulation of immune responses. these effects can lead to changes in antibody production and immune responses. prostaglandins and autoimmune diseases prostaglandins can play a role in the regulation of autoimmune processes. increased production of prostaglandins in certain autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis and lupus, contributes to exacerbated inflammation and tissue damage. therefore, a better understanding of prostaglandin effects can aid in developing new treatments and improving therapeutic strategies. prostaglandins have significant impacts on the immune system and immune factors. their effects on immune cells and cytokine production, especially in inflammatory and autoimmune conditions, could help in developing new treatments and enhancing therapeutic strategies. further research in this area could lead to a deeper understanding of prostaglandin mechanisms and their clinical applications.
