   exploring the antioxidant benefits of pomegranate peel and other agricultural waste plants in livestock rations

چکیده    The aim of this article is to explore the antioxidant benefits of pomegranate peel and other agricultural waste plants in livestock rations. the study evaluates the antioxidant activity and total phenolic content in various plants, assessing their potential to improve livestock health and productivity. plants were collected, shade-dried, and then oven-dried. samples were prepared for aqueous-alcoholic extraction, with antioxidant activity measured by the dpph method and total phenolic content determined using the folin-ciocalteu method. results were analyzed using spss software (version 2016). the study found varying antioxidant activity and total phenolic content in different plants. pomegranate peel (punica granatum) had the highest phenolic content at 441.40±10.62 mg/g and an ic50 of 5.30±0.08 mg/ml. bht (butylated hydroxytoluene) and gallic acid followed with 321.49±3.77 mg/g and an ic50 of 5.20±0.04 mg/ml. rosemary (rosmarinus officinalis) had 208.94±6.73 mg/g and an ic50 of 5.19±0.09 mg/ml. other plants included blader eggplant (semecarpus anacardium) (56.30±0.21 mg/g, ic50 4.81±0.06 mg/ml), apple pomace (malus domestica) (47.32±0.19 mg/g, ic50 1.03±0.09 mg/ml), eucalyptus (eucalyptus globulus) (42.96±0.72 mg/g, ic50 5.95±0.15 mg/ml), green tea (camellia sinensis) (37.27±5.30 mg/g, ic50 5.95±2.20 mg/ml), and anjbar (bistorta officinalis) (33.99±0.12 mg/g, ic50 2.42±0.11 mg/ml). the findings reveal that pomegranate peel has the highest total phenolic content and significant antioxidant activity, indicating its potential as a valuable resource for improving livestock health and productivity. rosemary also showed notable antioxidant properties. these results highlight the possibility of integrating these plants into livestock diets to promote sustainability and animal welfare. further research is suggested to explore practical applications in livestock management and to evaluate the long-term effects of adding these plant extracts to animal feed.
