چکیده
|
Basal cell carcinoma (bcc) is a subtype of basal cell tumor that is common in cats and is reported to account for 11–28% of all feline cutaneous neoplasms. generally, they have benign biological behavior with a low metastatic rate, and little contemporary information exists regarding this tumor. this report describes an intact male 1-year-old dsh cat that presented with an abnormal dermal lump on the right leg s caudal surface, approximately near the semimembranosus muscle. after examination by a veterinary specialist, the cat was referred to the operation room for resection of the mass. the histopathological evaluation of the skin mass sections showed a menacing sight of the malignant proliferation of basal cells of the epidermal layer. cells were minimally pleomorphic with few mitotic activities, leading to the diagnosis of bcc. the cbc blood test results were normal in all parameters except that a slight increase in neutrophil (10.6 × 10^3) and eosinophil (2 × 10^3) was observed. a radiologic examination was conducted to see that the tumor was metastasizing, and the results revealed no sign of spread throughout the body؛ however, bronchial wall thickening and ring signs were noted, indicating mild chronic bronchitis. the ultrasound examination of the cavity was reported normal, and no sign of free peritoneal fluid or reactive mesenteric lymph nodes was detected during the current examination. additional veterinary research is necessary to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the prevalence, treatment, and monitoring protocols for basal cell carcinoma.
