Parasitic diseases are very important in ruminants, and among them, parasitic infection of the liver has a special place. one of these diseases is dicroceliasis, which is caused by different species of dicrocelium. this trematode is observed in the bile ducts and gall bladder of ruminants and accidentally in humans. the aim of this study was to genotyping and sequencing of dicrocelium dendriticum in ruminants slaughtered in sanandaj slaughterhouse. in this cross-sectional descriptive study, 50 dicrocelium isolates were collected from the livers of cows (30 cases) and sheep (20 cases) from sanandaj slaughterhouses. the 28s rdna region of the genus dicrocelium was confirmed by molecular method and pcr-rflp technique was used to identify the parasite species. in addition, a number of samples were sequenced. all 50 bovine and sheep dicrocelium isolates were confirmed by pcr method. in the molecular analysis, four bands bp116, bp145, bp 393 and bp409 indicated dicrocelium dendriticum parasite. in examining the sequence of parasite isolates, no genetic differences were found. finally, a phylogenetic tree was constructed. the present study clearly showed that the only dicrocelium species that causes dicroceliasis in cattle and sheep in sanandaj slaughterhouses is dicrocelium dendriticum.
