چکیده    Antibiotics are widely used in aquaculture to treat diseases and promote the growth of aquatic animals. vibrio is the most common bacterium associated with diseases in aquaculture. vibrio parahaemolytics, vibrio harveyi and vibrio alginolyticus are the most common species infecting farmed aquatic animals, therefore use of various antibiotics to treat such infection in aquaculture is indispensable. on the other hands antibiotic resistant bacteria in aquatic animals and environments are potential health hazards for humans, therefore this study aimed to provide information on the occurrence of antibiotic resistance in vibrio species.the antibiotic susceptibility testing was performed on vibrio isolates by employing the disc diffusion method. the isolates were cultured in bhi broth supplemented with 2.5% nacl, and subsequently were cultured on mueller-hinton agar, then antibiotic discs were added on it. after 24 hours incubation at 25℃ the inhibition zones were measured. the vibrio isolates were tasted against following antibiotics (amoxicillin, ampicillin, cefotaxime, chloramphenicol, ciprofloxacin, erythromycin, florfenicol, gentamycin, kanamycin and trimethoprim- sulfamethoxazole). results indicate that all the three strains were resistant to two antibiotics (amoxicillin and ampicillin), moderately sensitive to two antibiotics (ciprofloxacin and cefotaxime) and sensitive to three antibiotics (chloramphenicol, florfenicol and trimethoprim- sulfamethoxazole) but vibrio harveyi and vibrio alginolyticus were resistant to erythromycin, gentamicin and kanamycin while vibrio parahaemolyticus was moderately sensitive to erythromycin and kanamycin and sensitive to gentamycin.the findings observed in this study show that monitoring the antibiotic resistance of vibrio species on a continuous basis is essential for determining the most effective treatment and therefore may preventing antibiotic resistance creation by using in efficient antibiotics.
