role of bacteria in abortion of small ruminants in fars province

Small ruminants play an essential role in agriculture and animal husbandry and the livelihoods of villagers and nomads. abortion due to economic losses and zoonosis is one of the significant problems in the animal husbandry industry. it affects food production, animal health, and the agricultural and animal husbandry economy. several factors cause abortions in small ruminants. one factor is the presence of bacteria, including brucella spp., salmonella spp., chlamydia abortus, coxiella burnetii, and mycoplasma agalactiae. in this article, we examine the effects of these bacteria on small ruminants abortions. from 25/10/1401 to 1/11/1402, 54 abortion samples were sent to the laboratory of shiraz university s veterinary school at -20 degrees celsius, and stomach fluid was sampled. bacterial agents were identified by culture and pcr methods. the results showed that 22.2% of the examined samples were infected with brucella species. followed by 0.03%, 0.03%, 0.02% and 0.02% with c. abortus, salmonella spp., m. agalactiae and c. burnetii respectively. therefore, it can be concluded that brucella spp. is the leading cause of abortion in small ruminants in fars province.
