چکیده    The aim of this review study is to gather information about an emerging method in treatment of osteoarthritis in field of veterinary medicine, called platelet rich plasma therapy and evaluate the effectiveness of this method based on shared results.the related keywords such as “prp”, “platelet rich plasma”, “veterinary” and “animal models” were searched in google scholar search engine and later on articles were chosen and screened based on the titles and abstracts. all of chosen papers were summarized and restructured in to review paper format.platelet-rich plasma (prp) therapy is increasingly being utilized in veterinary medicine for the treatment of osteoarthritis and also wound management in different animals. prp is obtained from the patient’s own blood, which is processed to concentrate platelets and growth factors such as platelet-derived growth factor (pdgf) and transforming growth factor-beta (tgf-β). pdgf aids in angiogenesis, mitogenesis, proliferation of mesenchymal cells such as fibroblasts, osteoblasts, tenocytes, vascular smooth muscle cells and mesenchymal stem cells and tgf- β aids in promoting tissue repair differentiation, chemotaxis, proliferation, and activation of many immune cells. while prp shows promise in treating osteoarthritis, the evidence is still evolving.researches have demonstrated that prp can decrease proinflammatory markers and reduce damage to cartilage and synovium in animals with osteoarthritis. it also supports pain modulation and enhances wound healing. even though some studies indicate positive outcomes, but prp also may cause more inflammation, so further research is required to definitively establish its efficacy, also the effectiveness of prp can vary between species and even between individual animals, making it challenging to standardize treatment protocols.
