چکیده    Mycetoma is a chronic subcutaneous disease caused by traumatic inoculation of filamentous fungi (eumycetoma) or aerobic filamentous bacteria (actinomycetoma), which form grains in the tissue (van de sande, 2013). usually, there is an indolent clinical evolution, difficulty for laboratory diagnosis and challenging treatment. the aim of this study is histopathological description of a mycetoma infections in a river buffalo (bubalus bubalis). a five-year-old river buffalo (bubalus bubalis) presented to the veterinary hospital with a large mass in the carpal region of the right forelimb. after shaving the hair in the area and disinfecting the area, a puncture was made and it contained serosanguineous fluid. in the next step, a longitudinal incision was made with a surgical blade and many coral-shaped grains were expelled and some of the grains were sent to the pathology laboratory. in the microscopic examination, a fibrin bed with a large number of neutrophils was seen. in pas staining, the fungal nature of the masses was confirmed. the type of fungus in the microbiology investigations was declared to be possibly eumycetoma, which needs further investigation. according to the authors knowledge, this is the first report of cutaneous mycetoma infection in a river buffalo (bubalus bubalis) and it should be included in the differential diagnosis.
