چکیده

A gram-positive intracellular infection known as listeria monocytogenes, sometimes referred to as listeria, is spread by food. it is frequently present in many food sources and other natural environments. specifically, it can lead to a peculiar yet severe condition known as listeriosis. listeria has the highest mortality rate among all bacteria responsible for food poisoning. listeria monocytogenes (lm) is extensively found in the environment as a saprophyte, but can transform into a deadly intracellular infection subsequent to consumption. invasive infections are present in many animals worldwide, although they are most common in humans and farmed ruminants and manifest distinctively. conversely, the illness is documented in non-human monogastric animals, including documented instances of l. monocytogenes involvement in dogs. this report describes a case of urinary tract infection in a diabetic dog caused by an uncommon, mildly hemolytic strain of l. monocytogenes. in this study, the serotype of l. monocytogenes isolate 1/2a (3a) was identified using the multilocus genotype pattern 2.72_1/2a. an amino acid substitution (gly145asp) was detected at position 145 in the prfa promoter region. the residue in question is located inside the crucial helix-turn-helix motif of prfa. the origin of the l. monocytogenes strain is still unidentified, and the dog showed improvement following a 4-week treatment with cephalexin (30 mg/kg dosed orally twice day).
