چکیده    Wound healing is a crucial biological process for the survival of humans and animals. accelerating wound recovery is considered important both clinically and economically. extensive research has been conducted to find potential solutions that can significantly aid in the faster healing of various types of wounds. however, the effect of carob bean (ceratonia siliqua) has not been investigated in this regard. of this study is to examine the pathological effect of oral administration of carob bean (ceratonia siliqua) extract on full-thickness surgical wound healing. eighteen male wistar albino rats with an average weight of 150 grams were divided into two groups: control and treatment. they were placed under standard conditions with sufficient access to water and ad libitum feeding. following sedation and anesthesia (80 mg/kg ketamine and 5 mg/kg xylazine intramuscularly), a full-thickness circular wound with a diameter of two centimeters was created on the back of all rats. the treatment group received a daily dose of 0.5 ml of carob bean (ceratonia siliqua) orally for 21 days. tissue sampling was performed on days 7, 14, and 21. the histological slides were prepared using h&e staining and examined under a light microscope. both groups samples were qualitatively evaluated for angiogenesis, fibroblast maturation, collagen content, mature fibroblast, wound completion, and tissue organization. on day 7, the control group had higher angiogenesis compared to the treatment group, but there were no significant differences between the two groups in terms of other factors. on days 14 and 21, the treatment group showed higher angiogenesis and a greater presence of mature fibroblasts compared to the control group, but there was no reduction in the number of inflammatory cells, and the collagen content was similar in both groups. finally, the control group had a more favorable performance in terms of tissue organization and wound completion. the effect of oral administration of carob bean (ceratonia siliqua) extract on full-thickness surgical wound healing was not reported to be favorable in this study and requires further investigation.
