applications of artificial intelligence in immunology: a brief review

Ai is a multidisciplinary informatics field that aims to transfer characteristics of people defined as intelligence to a computer-based object. since its early beginnings in 1956 as a field of research and development, ai has evolved and suffered setbacks, until early in the 21st century when it finally flourished with successful applications in academia and industry. the term may be applied to any machines or algorithms that exhibit traits normally associated with human behaviors such as pattern recognition, extrapolation, and problem solving. ai has been inspired a lot by natural swarm intelligences, such as those observed in groupings of animals and insects. swarm intelligences not only are observed in our surroundings, but also exist within the human body. a combination of new methods and availability of powerful computers along with vast collections of data brought large investment and widespread interest in ai. the advancing technology enables to use of a.i. efficiently in medicine and veterinary medicine, especially when it comes to challenges with infectious diseases and immunology. artificial intelligence is a newer concept in veterinary and human immunology, but its existing benefits illustrate the significant potential it may also have in this field. as much as immunology has served the ai, recently ai is being used in many immunological fields: first, diagnostics؛ second, treatment, and third, research fields. beside remarkable analytic abilities, antigen and phenotype detection, predicting prognosis and treatment outcomes, vaccine design, etc., are examples where ai is serving the immunologists in the field. the use of artificial intelligence in medicine has proved to be useful in detecting data patterns and is used in various types of experiments and clinical research to facilitate decision-making in each stage of diagnosis and subsequent treatment.
