   healing effect study of melissa officinalis extract and copper oxide nanoparticles cream on the second-degree burn wounds in rat

چکیده    One of the most common injuries to the skin is burn wounds. the treatment of burns is extremely complex and painful and requires the use of several drugs separately. burn wounds are one of the types of slow-healing wounds, and considering the difficult conditions of burn patients, finding natural substances and medical plants that accelerate the healing of burn wounds with few side effects can create a revolution in the treatment of burn wounds. therefore, in this study, the healing effect of a cream containing melissa officinalis extract and copper oxide nanoparticles on second degree burn wounds in rats was investigated. due to the presence of flavonoids, caffeic acid, hydroxybenzoic acid and oleic acid, melissa officinalis extract has antiviral, antifungal, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects. it is expected that the healing effect of this extract is in result of activation of molecular mechanisms by the compounds mentioned in it. in this study, 60 rats were randomly divided into five groups including negative control, treated with silver sulfadiazine ointment, nano-extract extract, copper oxide nanoparticle, and combination of nano-extract and copper oxide nanoparticles creams and were treated daily for 14 days. wounds were sampled on days 7th and 14th days. in the macroscopic evaluation, the wound area was reduced in the positive control group in comparison with the other groups after 14 days. the size of wounds in the treatment and negative control groups was near together. in the microscopic study, the maturation and organization parameters in the positive and combined treatment groups showed better progress rather than the other groups after 14 days. more research should be done to prove the effectiveness of melissa officinalis extract on the wound healing.
