چکیده    Snake venom is a complex and distinctive mixture of chemical compounds with a diverse array of pharmacological agents including antibacterial properties. these chemical components, consisting of peptides and proteins, have demonstrated remarkable abilities in combating pathogenic microorganisms such as pathogenic bacterial agents. the distinctive chemical constituents of snake venom have led to the development of innovative drugs with high potential for treating bacterial infections and diseases. an extensive search of the current literature was performed using the scientific databases pubmed, scopus, google scholar, web of science, and embase through relevant keywords that included antibacterial, snake venom, drug, pharmacology, and chemical compound. our results showed that several studies suggested that phospholipases a2 (pla2) and l-amino acid oxidases (laao), along with their enzyme fragments, are among the antibacterial chemical compounds in snake venoms. moreover, fragments of three-finger toxins (3ftx) were demonstrated bactericidal activity. additionally, it was confirmed that certain snakes produce antibacterial peptides (amps) similar to human defensins and cathelicidins. this paper explored the key chemical compounds discovered in snake venoms that showed antibacterial properties, highlighting promising therapeutic agents for potential antibacterial applications. our findings suggest a promising and significant role of antibacterial agents that can be explored in snake venoms for the production or design of novel antibacterial drugs in the future.
