The present study was conducted to evaluate the wound healing effects of liposome nanocarrier containing arnebia euchroma extract on infected burn wounds. twenty four male wistar albino rats were divided into 6 groups of 4 animals. rats were anesthetized, and dorsum and flanks shaved each and two burn wounds were created on each of the rats. a 100 g cylindrical copper rod of 1cm diameter was heated up to 100° c. it was placed on the skin without any pressure. the study groups were: positive control group (zinc oxide treatment), treatment group (ointment containing nanoliposomes loaded with extract arnebia euchroma), extract group (ointment containing hydroalcoholic extract arnebia euchroma), control group of nanoliposomes (ointment containing nano liposomes), hyaluronic acid control group (ointment containing hyaluronic acid), negative control group (no treatment). twenty-four hours post-burn, all wounds were inoculated with pseudomonas aeruginosa (pao-1) 1 mcfarland. to ensure sustained infection, wounds were dressed for 48 hours. sterile swabs were used to collect samples, which were then placed in pbs and cultured at three different dilutions. bacterial colony counts for each group were determined on days 3, 4, and 5 post-burn, and the data were subjected to statistical analysis. statistical analysis revealed a consistent decreasing trend in bacterial counts across all wound types and groups over the five-day post-burn period. by day five, bacterial colonization had significantly diminished, with negligible levels of pseudomonas aeruginosa being isolated from culture plates. the rate of bacterial reduction was significantly greater in the positive control group compared to the other groups. however, when comparing the mean reduction in bacterial counts, no significant differences were found between the treatment group and the remaining groups.
