the relationship between burn and schizophrenia: a narrative review from a nursing perspective

Recent evidence suggests a relationship between burn injuries and schizophrenia. in this study, the authors aim to explore the intersection of schizophrenia and severe burn injuries from a nursing perspective. a comprehensive search of electronic databases including pubmed, medline, psycinfo, cinahl, and cochrane library was conducted from inception to april 1, 2024. the results demonstrated that nurses play a vital role in early detection, holistic assessment, and intervention to address the emotional well-being of these patients. key responsibilities include educating patients and families, providing emotional support, and creating a therapeutic environment. overall, by promoting mental health engagement, implementing personalized care plans, and facilitating access to mental health services, nurses can significantly contribute to the recovery and quality of life of burn survivors with schizophrenia.
