چکیده    Direct ethanol fuel cells (defcs), innovative electrochemical energy conversion devices, could ease the environmental and energy crisis. the high cost of pt-based catalysts hinders the application of defcs. metal-organic frameworks (mofs) as an attractive type of porous crystalline materials (pc) have provided a unique choice for designing the distribution of metals on carbon substrates for various energy applications. here, the nico mofs were arrayed on highly conductive three-dimensional (3d) active carbon felt (acf) as supported by a simple solvothermal method. the performance of the as-prepared nico mofs/acf as a binder-less anode electrode was investigated in a single direct ethanol fuel cell. the nico-mof/acf delivered 36.8 mw cm-2 power density at 60 ̊c compared to commercial pt/c (e-tek) (9.2 mw cm-2). the structural advantages such as the 3d architecture of acf, a synergistic effect between two metals (co and ni) and many accessible active sites resulted in the magnificent activity of nico mofs/acf.
