This paper proposes a novel permanent magnet(pm) arrangement for a two-phase switched reluctance motor(srm) to achieve enhanced torque density and reduced pmvolume. the proposed motor, termed the ypmsrm, incorporatespms embedded within the stator yoke. the paper comparesthe ypmsrm to an existing hybrid reluctance motor (hrm)with pms placed within the common poles. the finite elementmethod is employed to analyze the flux lines and densities ofboth motors. the results demonstrate that the ypmsrm exhibitsa significantly higher flux density in the air gap compared tothe hrm. additionally, the ypmsrm delivers higher torquewith lower pm volume and reduced cogging torque comparedto the hrm. the ypmsrm presents a promising topology forachieving improved torque characteristics in srm applications.
